Staying Active After 60: Senior Fitness Programs in Naples, FL
April 6, 2026
Staying active after 60 isn’t about pushing harder, it’s about training smarter. The right program builds the three things that matter most after 60: balance (so you don’t fall), strength (so you can carry groceries, pick up grandkids, get up from the floor), and mobility (so you stay independent). At Forge Athletics in Naples, senior fitness is coached one-on-one. No jumping onto boxes. No trendy nonsense. Just the work that keeps you strong into your 70s, 80s, and beyond.
Here is what senior training at Forge focuses on, and how to start.
What Senior Training at Forge Focuses On
Senior training at Forge is one-on-one. Sessions can focus on practical strength, balance, mobility, and the movements that matter in daily life. The coach adjusts exercises to the person's current ability and works within any guidance the client has received from a healthcare professional.
Training is not medical treatment. If you are recovering from surgery, managing a condition, or unsure what exercise is appropriate, get guidance from your healthcare professional before starting.

Maintaining Mobility Through Senior Fitness Programs Naples Style
For most Naples seniors, the real goal of fitness isn’t aesthetics, it’s independence. The ability to climb stairs without assistance, carry grocery bags, get up from a chair, play with grandchildren, and drive safely all depend on maintaining functional strength and mobility. Our training programs at Forge Athletics focus on movements that directly translate to daily life. Squats prepare you for getting in and out of chairs. Farmer’s carries build the grip and core strength for carrying loads. Shoulder presses maintain the overhead reach you need for everyday tasks.
Community and Social Connection
Isolation is a real concern for older adults. One-on-one training gives you a coach who knows your name, your goals, and your week, and a standing appointment that gets you out of the house.
What to Expect at Forge Athletics
Every new senior client starts with a conversation and a movement assessment. We talk about your health history and goals, watch how you move, and build a program from what we find. Sessions are one-on-one, coached at a pace matched to the person.
What Your First Session Looks Like
New senior members get the same onboarding:
- Complimentary 20-30 minute consultation. Phone or in person. We ask about your medical history, current activity level, goals, and anything you’ve tried that didn’t work.
- Movement assessment. A coach walks you through simple movements, a squat to a chair, a step-up, a reach overhead. We’re looking at balance, mobility, and any pain points. No judgment, no pressure.
- First coached session. Thirty to forty minutes of work built around exactly what the assessment showed. You leave tired but not wrecked.
- Plan. We map out a realistic training schedule, usually 2-3 one-on-one sessions per week.
If at any point you decide it’s not the right fit, we say so too.
Why One-on-One Coaching Matters
Private training gives the coach room to adjust the exercise, pace, range of motion, and level of support without asking a client to keep up with a group. Forge's head coach has more than 30 years of teaching experience.

Senior Fitness in Naples, Frequently Asked Questions
I haven’t worked out in 20 years. Can I start here?
Yes. We scale everything to where you are today, not where you wish you were. Progress is the goal, not intensity.
Do I need to have a specific medical clearance first?
If you’ve had recent surgery, a cardiac event, or your doctor has restrictions, we’d want those written down before the first session. For most healthy seniors starting a low-intensity program, a quick conversation with your primary care doctor is enough.
How much does senior fitness training cost at Forge Athletics?
Senior training at Forge is one-on-one. Contact Forge for current personal-training options and the starting process.
Can my spouse or friend train with me?
Yes. We can coach couples or friends in a shared private session. Ask when you book.
What if I have arthritis, a bad knee, or chronic pain?
We coach around it. Every movement has a modified version. Tell us what hurts and what your doctor has said, and the session is built around that.
