Kickboxing at Forge is striking taught properly. You learn stance, guard, footwork, and real combinations on the heavy bags, and you leave having done a full-body workout that builds strength, burns energy, and leaves stress on the mat. Confidence built with every combination.

This is fitness kickboxing done the honest way: the technique is real, the coaching is individual, and the workout changes from session to session instead of running the same class over and over. Muay thai style kicks, knees and movement are part of the striking vocabulary, folded into one program.

Third-degree black belt in kickboxing under Robert Fletcher, and in Shorin-Ryu karate under Tadashi Yamashita. That is the lineage behind the coaching.

Women's Only Kickboxing and Women's Only Strength & Kickboxing run their own times. See the women's page.

Full grid on the schedule. For the student who wants to take striking further as a martial artist, kickboxing is the foundation: real MMA and sparring live in Teen & Adult MMA (Advanced), open to students with two to three years of prior martial arts training after a conversation with the coach. Nobody arrives at sparring by accident.

The hour

How the Class Runs

The hour has a rhythm: a dynamic warm-up of twelve to fifteen minutes, a strength and conditioning circuit of about fifteen, then the heart of the class, around twenty minutes of striking on the heavy bags with core work threaded between rounds, and ten to twelve minutes of stretching to close it down.

Some nights the bag block runs as Tabata rounds with core work between them; other nights it is two-to-three-minute heavy-bag rounds with core in the rests, three times through.

Kickboxing questions

Do your kickboxing classes include sparring?

No. Co-Ed Kickboxing does not include sparring, and you will never be expected to spar or fight. Training uses heavy bags, strength equipment, body-weight and calisthenic movements.

What is a co-ed kickboxing class actually like?

It is a coached striking and conditioning workout, not a follow-along fitness class. You learn real technique while getting a serious workout, and a coach corrects you as you go.

Do I need to be fit before I start?

No. People start at every fitness level and work at their own pace. Our classes cater to all levels, which is something long-term members mention consistently.

What equipment do I need?

None for your first class. Wear comfortable workout clothes, bring a water bottle, and use our loaner gloves. If you continue, we will help you pick your own.

How is this different from a gym class or a franchise kickboxing studio?

The coaching is tailored rather than templated. One member puts it directly: the workouts change from session to session, rather than being the same class over and over.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes. Members are welcome to bring friends, and guests are welcome to watch a class before deciding. If your friend wants to train, we just ask that you register ahead so we can place them in the right class.

How do I book my first class?

Call, text, email, message us on social, or stop by. Texting usually gets the fastest reply. In many cases, you can be training the same day or within a day or two, depending on the class and when you reach us.

Looking for women's-only classes?

Women's Only Kickboxing and Women's Only Strength & Kickboxing run their own dedicated times. See women's kickboxing.
