Boxing is the most efficient full-body training there is: footwork, rotation, timing, and conditioning in every round. Pair it with structured strength work and you get the program most gyms cannot run, because most gyms have the weights or the bags, not the coaching for both.
At Forge you learn to actually box: stance, guard, punch mechanics, defense, and combinations, coached properly at whatever level you walk in at. The strength work runs alongside it, programmed so each side makes the other better.
Third-degree black belt in kickboxing under Robert Fletcher, and in Shorin-Ryu karate under Tadashi Yamashita.
What a training week looks like
Stance, footwork, punch mechanics, defense and combinations on the heavy bags, coached round by round.
Progressive strength training programmed to complement the striking: power, durability, and honest numbers going up.
Rounds, intervals, and body-weight and calisthenic work that build the engine boxing is famous for.
Train it one-on-one through men's personal training, or in the group setting through co-ed kickboxing. For the student who wants to take striking further, the path leads through skill to Teen & Adult MMA (Advanced), open to students with two to three years of prior training after a conversation with the coach.

Two Ways to Start
There are two ways to start. Personal training begins with a free consultation and gives you one-on-one boxing and strength work around your goals. Co-Ed Kickboxing gives you coached heavy-bag striking and conditioning in a group on Monday and Wednesday at 5:30pm, with no sparring.
Both routes begin with stance, guard, footwork, punch mechanics, defense, and combinations.
Boxing questions
Can I start boxing as a complete beginner?
Yes. You can start as a complete beginner. Whether you begin with personal training or Co-Ed Kickboxing, you will learn the fundamentals in order: stance, footwork, guard, punch mechanics, defense, and combinations on the heavy bags. A coach demonstrates the skill, watches you practice, corrects your technique, and adjusts the pace and complexity to your level. You do not need boxing experience or a certain fitness level before you begin.
Will I have to spar?
No. The group route, Co-Ed Kickboxing, has no sparring, ever. Real sparring at Forge lives in Teen & Adult MMA (Advanced), Monday and Wednesday at 6:30pm, open to students with two to three years of prior martial arts training after a conversation with the coach about their current level.
Should I start with personal training or Co-Ed Kickboxing?
You can start either way. Personal training begins with a complimentary consultation and builds one-on-one coaching around your goals. Co-Ed Kickboxing gives you coached striking and conditioning in a group on Monday and Wednesday evenings. We can help you choose the better starting point.
What should I bring?
You have three options for boxing gloves: bring your own, purchase Forge boxing gloves at our facility, or borrow a pair of loaner gloves for your first session. Wear comfortable workout clothes and bring a water bottle.
